Workshops + Retreats

Yoga Workshops

Workshops allow students to delve deeper into a specific topic — whether it’s dissecting a physical posture, examining a particular theme or spending time exploring another modality in conjunction with a yoga practice.

Hillary periodically schedules workshops like those below and is happy to develop new programs based on students’ interests.

Available Workshops

Yoga Basics

Curious about yoga but wary of trying a class without an understanding of basic poses? Maybe you’ve been to some yoga classes but continually ask yourself, “Am I doing this right?” This 3-hour workshop aims to answer all of your questions while providing a basic foundation for your yoga practice. Through demonstration, verbal instruction and practice, we explore common postures with a focus on alignment, emphasizing safety and stability for your body. (Did you know you don’t have to be able to touch your toes to be “good” at yoga?) We move, integrate breath, meditate and relax – all key elements of yoga that can relieve stress and enhance overall well-being. (Yes, you get to lie down and rest for several minutes at the end of the workshop! Now the secret is out.)

Refining & Restoring Your
Inner Warrior

Students examine Warrior I, II & III in detail, focusing on alignment, muscular engagement, breath and energy movement. The practice begins with Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations) to warm up the body, followed by an interactive exploration of our Warriors. The second part of the workshop goes inward. Structured as a restorative yoga practice, students begin to “soften their inner warrior,” inviting a gentle, restful energy into their bodies and minds.

Hot But Not Bothered:
A Yogic Approach to Menopause

This workshop combines lecture, gentle asana practice and pranayama to help women of all ages better understand perimenopause and menopause. We examine physiological and emotional changes that often occur during this life transition. In addition, we explore ways to support ourselves to prevent and reduce potential challenges, including hot flashes, depression, anxiety, insomnia, mental fog, headaches, pelvic instability, sexual changes and incontinence.

Partners Prenatal Yoga
(for Expectant Couples)

Supporting partners on their journey toward parenthood together, this workshop focuses on the pregnant body but also addresses ways for partners to be supportive throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond. We practice asana, breathing techniques, gentle massage, and mindful meditation to facilitate connection between and empowerment for both parents.

Yoga + Soul Collage

In partnership with Rachel Duclos, this workshop integrates yoga (gentle movement and guided meditation) with expressive art to cultivate self-discovery, creativity and intuition. No experience necessary! Just bring an open mind and an open heart.

Restore and Reboot!

In partnership with Michelle DeWolf of The Festive Table, this is a hands-on workshop to see what a nourishing day could look like for you — in terms of both healthy movement and nourishing food. Troubleshoot your tough spots and learn about what type of diet or eating program actually makes sense for your body. True wellness is low tech, back to basics and not necessarily something you can buy off a shelf. It is sleep, food, exercise, stress management, community, fresh air, and sunshine. It's about behavior, habits, and lifestyle.

Upcoming Retreats

Hillary has spent time in 44 states, in 46 countries and on all 7 continents; she loves new adventures! Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the November 2020 Travel Yogi retreat in Iceland has been cancelled. Please stay tuned for new retreat announcements when it is once again safe to travel together.

Galapagos Islands
December 2017

(8 days/7 nights)

Twice-daily yoga, snorkeling with sea lions, kayaking with sea turtles, hiking with iguanas and blue-footed boobies — The Travel Yogi hooked us up with a pretty spectacular itinerary…and an opportunity to indulge in an eco-conscious but luxurious week of nature, nurture, delicious food and delightful company.

Panama City + Bocas del Toro
October 2018

(8 days/7 nights)

Juxtaposing the vibrancy of the old historic city and the jungle vibrations out on the island, The Travel Yogi did it again with a bulls-eye itinerary. We explored the fascinating Casco Viejo before flying to Bocas for a relaxing (ahem, except for the 100+ steps to the yoga palapa) respite at the beach. Lots of water time, exploration and SLOTHS!

June 2019

(8 days/7 nights)

The Travel Yogi outdid itself for our last retreat partnership. Farm-to-table meals al fresco at our own private property. Twice-daily yoga. Wine tasting, wine making. Touring chateaux, shopping in local markets, exploring pre-historic caves. C’etait la vie for sure!

Baja, Mexico
March 2020

(6 nights/7 days)

In partnership with Blue Turtle Sustainable, we supported turtle research while soaking in the most gorgeous sunrises,

practicing yoga twice daily, walking the beach, hiking in the desert, exploring tide pools, swimming with whale sharks, and visiting a local artisanal fish camp to learn about sustainability practices. The week focused on integrating the philosophy of Blue Mind into our yoga practice on and off the mat. I won’t mention how much we enjoyed the food. Don’t worry: We’re going to do this one again!
